About this checklist
Sony's TPS-L2 went on sale in 1979 and created the personal stereo. The Walkman name became a word of its own, and the compact WM-2 of 1981 turned the cassette player into an everyday accessory.
Over the following decades Sony released hundreds of Walkman models. Audiophiles hunt for the WM-D6C Professional and the WM-DD series, while the bright yellow Sports Walkmans, water-resistant cassette players and radios such as the WM-F5, the WM-FS range and the SRF radios, are a collecting theme of their own.
This checklist starts with landmark models and a large group of Sports Walkmans. Each entry shows photos from Save All collectors and how many of them own one. Add your Walkmans in the app to track your collection.
