About this checklist
Sony's PlayStation launched in Japan on 3 December 1994 and brought CD-based 3D gaming into living rooms. The grey console went through many revisions, from SCPH-1000 to SCPH-9000, before the smaller PS one replaced it in 2000. Japan also got the PocketStation (1999), a memory card with its own screen, while the black Net Yaroze (1996) let hobbyists write their own PlayStation games.
The PlayStation 2 (2000) became the best-selling home console of all time and was slimmed down in 2004; in Japan, the PS2-based PSX added a DVD recorder in 2003. The PlayStation 3 (2006) came in original, Slim and Super Slim versions, the PS4 (2013) was joined by the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in 2016, and the PlayStation 5 (2020) by a Slim model in 2023 and the PS5 Pro in 2024. The handheld line runs from the PSP (2004) through the PSP Go and PSP Street to the PS Vita (2011), its living-room version PlayStation TV, and the PlayStation Portal remote player (2023).
This checklist covers PlayStation hardware only; games, controllers and accessories are not included. Each model shows real photos from collectors on Save All and how many of them own it. Add your consoles in the app to see how complete your PlayStation collection is.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the original PlayStation and the PS one?
The PS one (SCPH-100 series), released on 7 July 2000, is a smaller, rounder redesign of the original PlayStation. It plays the same games but drops the serial port of the earlier models.
Was the PSP Street sold outside Europe?
No. The PSP Street (E1000), a budget PSP without Wi-Fi, was released only in Europe, in October 2011.
What is the difference between the PS Vita PCH-1000 and PCH-2000?
The original PCH-1000 (2011) has a 5-inch OLED screen and was also offered with 3G. The slimmer PCH-2000 (2013) is lighter, uses an LCD screen and adds 1 GB of built-in storage.
