About this checklist
Sega entered the home console market in 1983 with the SG-1000, released in Japan on the same day as Nintendo's Famicom. The Mark III of 1985 became the Master System abroad and was especially popular in Europe and Brazil.
The 16-bit Mega Drive, sold as the Genesis in North America, arrived in 1988 and was expanded with the Mega-CD and 32X add-ons. Sega's handhelds included the Game Gear (1990) and the Nomad (1995). Its last consoles were the Saturn (1994) and the Dreamcast (1998), after which Sega stopped making console hardware in 2001.
Each model shows real photos from collectors on Save All and how many of them own it. Add your consoles in the app to see how complete your Sega collection is.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Mega Drive the same as the Genesis?
Yes. The console was called Mega Drive in Japan, Europe and most other markets and Genesis in North America.
What is the difference between the Master System and the Master System II?
The Master System II (1990) is a smaller, cheaper redesign without the card slot and reset button of the original.
What was Sega's last console?
The Dreamcast, released in Japan in 1998. Sega discontinued it in 2001 and stopped making consoles.
